School Counsellor needed to support student wellbeing and safeguarding in an international school.

The Opportunity:

As a School Counsellor, you will play a vital role in promoting student wellbeing and ensuring safeguarding practices meet the highest standards. You will provide expert support to students, working closely with staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate a whole-school approach to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
  • Provide high-quality counselling support to students and their families.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures align with UK statutory guidance and international best practice.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support student needs.
  • Deliver training and guidance to staff on safeguarding and wellbeing issues.
  • Monitor and report on safeguarding cases in accordance with legal and institutional requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and initiatives that promote student welfare.
  • Support students in managing personal, social, and emotional challenges.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant degree in counselling, social work, or a related field.
  • Qualified and experienced school counsellor with a proven track record in safeguarding.
  • Knowledge of UK safeguarding frameworks and international adaptations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in an international or multicultural school environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with the British curriculum or international curricula such as IGCSE or IB.
  • Familiarity with Spanish or Catalan language a plus.
  • Experience in providing pastoral care and support to students of all ages.
  • Understanding of child development and mental health support.
