The Opportunity:
As a School Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ emotional, social, and academic well-being. You will provide individual and group counselling, advocate for student needs, and collaborate with teachers, families, and external specialists to ensure students receive the support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage, and deliver the school counselling programme in line with the International School Counsellor Association Model
- Provide individual and small group confidential counselling to students
- Support students in emergency situations and refer to external specialists when necessary
- Collaborate with the boarding house team to deliver targeted support
- Contribute to the peer support programme and student of concern meetings
- Uphold and implement the school’s child safeguarding protocols and procedures
- Advocate for external mental health services on behalf of students
- Support divisional principals in identifying and resolving student issues
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- M.Ed. or higher in School Counselling (or equivalent with suitable experience)
- Further safeguarding training or qualifications for working with young people
- 3-5 years of experience as a School Counsellor, preferably in an international setting
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Proficient in the Google Suite of applications
- Experience with confidential safeguarding online platforms such as CPOMS
Preferred
- Experience with individual and group counselling
- Understanding of developmental, emotional, and social issues in young people
- Experience in teaching and implementing conflict resolution
- Knowledge of positive transitions-care management programs
- An entrepreneurial spirit with a drive to develop new programs and solutions
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and flexibility
