The Opportunity:
As a School Librarian, you will play a key role in creating an inspiring learning environment that promotes literacy, curiosity, and a lifelong love of reading. You will manage and develop library resources, support teaching and learning across the school, and engage students through creative and inclusive library activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curate and maintain a diverse and inclusive library collection that supports the curriculum and promotes literacy.
- Organise and manage library resources, ensuring they are accessible and up to date.
- Support literacy initiatives, including leading small group intervention sessions and working closely with the English Faculty.
- Promote and manage library events, displays, and exhibitions to engage students and staff.
- Use ICT skills to support library administration, including purchasing, ordering, and record-keeping.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming library environment that encourages student discipline and positive behaviour.
- Develop and manage lunch and break activities, contributing to a well-rounded student experience.
- Support the school's values, culture, and inclusion policies in all aspects of the role.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in library management and literacy support within an educational setting.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage library resources effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, and parents.
- Experience in using ICT tools for library administration and resource management.
- Commitment to promoting literacy and a love of reading among students.
Preferred
- Experience in leading literacy programmes or small group interventions.
- Knowledge of inclusive education practices and diversity in library collections.
- Experience in managing library events or exhibitions.
- Familiarity with educational frameworks and curriculum support.
