The Opportunity:

As a School Librarian, you will play a key role in creating an inspiring learning environment that promotes literacy, curiosity, and a lifelong love of reading. You will manage and develop library resources, support teaching and learning across the school, and engage students through creative and inclusive library activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curate and maintain a diverse and inclusive library collection that supports the curriculum and promotes literacy.
  • Organise and manage library resources, ensuring they are accessible and up to date.
  • Support literacy initiatives, including leading small group intervention sessions and working closely with the English Faculty.
  • Promote and manage library events, displays, and exhibitions to engage students and staff.
  • Use ICT skills to support library administration, including purchasing, ordering, and record-keeping.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming library environment that encourages student discipline and positive behaviour.
  • Develop and manage lunch and break activities, contributing to a well-rounded student experience.
  • Support the school's values, culture, and inclusion policies in all aspects of the role.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in library management and literacy support within an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage library resources effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, and parents.
  • Experience in using ICT tools for library administration and resource management.
  • Commitment to promoting literacy and a love of reading among students.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading literacy programmes or small group interventions.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices and diversity in library collections.
  • Experience in managing library events or exhibitions.
  • Familiarity with educational frameworks and curriculum support.
