The Opportunity:

As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of science practical work across the Senior School and Sixth Form. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and innovative learning environment where you can make a meaningful impact on student learning and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, organise and maintain laboratory facilities, equipment and resources.
  • Support science staff with technical assistance in line with departmental requirements.
  • Assist with practical lessons under the supervision of class teachers.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment and resources are safe, functional and well-maintained.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of equipment and consumables.
  • Manage the ordering, receiving and storage of laboratory supplies.
  • Apply health, safety and environmental procedures consistently.
  • Support the cleaning, storage and safe disposal of materials after practical sessions.
  • Participate in training to maintain professional competence and stay updated with best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in preparing chemical solutions, samples and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to set up, test and maintain laboratory apparatus and specialist equipment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Familiarity with health and safety procedures in a laboratory setting.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of practical resource development and risk assessments.
  • Experience with laboratory management systems or inventory software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
  • Background in science or a related field.
