The Opportunity:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex needs to reach their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive and grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teachers in delivering creative, engaging lessons tailored to individual learning styles
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils achieve personal and academic goals
- Encourage emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour through understanding and empathy
- Help pupils develop social skills and confidence through everyday interactions and structured activities
- Support off-site learning experiences that bring lessons to life and build real-world understanding
- Collaborate with therapists and pastoral staff to ensure a holistic approach to student support
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
- Assist in the planning and delivery of sensory and outdoor learning activities
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths – Grade C / 4 or above
- Experience or willingness to work with students with complex needs, including SEMH
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
Preferred
- Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
- Experience with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and individualised learning approaches
- Experience with outdoor, sensory, or community-based learning activities
