The Opportunity:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex needs to reach their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive and grow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in delivering creative, engaging lessons tailored to individual learning styles
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils achieve personal and academic goals
  • Encourage emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour through understanding and empathy
  • Help pupils develop social skills and confidence through everyday interactions and structured activities
  • Support off-site learning experiences that bring lessons to life and build real-world understanding
  • Collaborate with therapists and pastoral staff to ensure a holistic approach to student support
  • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of sensory and outdoor learning activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths – Grade C / 4 or above
  • Experience or willingness to work with students with complex needs, including SEMH
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

Preferred

  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
  • Experience with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and individualised learning approaches
  • Experience with outdoor, sensory, or community-based learning activities
