The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a dedicated and creative Music Teacher 11-16 to join a vibrant and supportive team. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about inspiring young people and helping them develop the musical skills needed to excel in KS3 and KS4.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality music lessons to students aged 11-16, ensuring engagement and progression.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that supports the development of musical skills and performance abilities.
  • Manage and lead extracurricular music activities and ensembles.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student learning and achievement across the school.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to students, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to help students reach their full potential.
  • Participate in school events and contribute to the wider school community.
  • Stay up to date with developments in music education and incorporate innovative teaching methods.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in music education.
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, and practical skills.
  • Experience of teaching music to students aged 11-16.
  • Commitment to the school’s values and ethos, including inclusivity and student support.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take on leadership responsibilities.

Preferred

  • Experience with GCSE and A Level music qualifications.
  • Experience in leading music ensembles or extracurricular groups.
  • Experience with ECTs or a willingness to support new teachers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for music and a commitment to inspiring students.
