The Opportunity:
As a Secondary Computer Science Teacher, you will play a key role in developing logical thinkers, confident problem-solvers, and articulate learners who can apply digital skills effectively. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality Computer Science lessons aligned with the National Curriculum
- Embed oracy, structured talk, and computational thinking into everyday teaching
- Plan creative, challenging, and well-sequenced learning experiences
- Support pupils to become independent learners and confident communicators
- Use technology effectively to enhance learning and assessment
- Contribute to the development of the school’s digital and STEM curriculum
- Engage in extra-curricular activities such as coding clubs or STEM initiatives
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – PGCE or BEd
- UK bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computing or a related discipline
- Recent teaching experience in a UK or BSO-accredited school
- Strong understanding of the National Curriculum for Computing
- Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
- Strong digital literacy (Google Workspace, shared drives, coding platforms, etc.)
Preferred
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
- Experience with Philosophy for Children (P4C) or other dialogic teaching approaches
- Demonstrated ability to support inclusive oracy practices in the classroom
- Experience with curriculum development or leadership in a school setting
