The Opportunity:

As the SEMH and Wellbeing Coordinator, you will lead initiatives to support students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will work with the SENDCo and pastoral team to ensure all students receive the right support at the right time, contributing to a whole-school culture of wellbeing and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate targeted interventions and support strategies for students with SEMH challenges
  • Collaborate with staff to improve understanding and support for students’ emotional and mental health needs
  • Develop and implement whole-school wellbeing initiatives and mental health programmes
  • Act as an Assistant Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students
  • Work closely with families and external professionals to provide tailored support
  • Contribute to staff wellbeing and training on mental health and safeguarding
  • Support the school’s national accreditation programmes in mental health
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and positive mental health across the school

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in SEMH support or student wellbeing
  • Strong understanding of mental health and safeguarding procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and external professionals
  • Experience in a school or educational setting

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or coordinating role
  • Qualifications in mental health or pastoral care
  • Experience with national accreditation programmes in wellbeing
  • Knowledge of SEND and pastoral support frameworks
  • Experience in developing and delivering staff training on mental health
