The Opportunity:

As Deputy Headteacher - Behaviour and Safeguarding, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing the strategic direction of the school’s pastoral care. This is a unique opportunity to shape a culture of safety, high standards, and student well-being across all year groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver the highest standards of pastoral care to ensure student safety, excellent behaviour, and outstanding attendance.
  • Strategically develop and implement behaviour and safeguarding policies, practices, and systems across the school.
  • Maintain a visible and professional presence to support and promote positive student conduct throughout the school.
  • Work closely with the Headteacher to implement the strategic aims and objectives of the school and trust.
  • Deputise for the Headteacher as required, ensuring continuity and effective leadership.
  • Analyse data to inform and improve behaviour and attendance outcomes.
  • Collaborate with school and trust leaders to enhance pastoral outcomes for all students.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive culture aligned with the school’s values and mission.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and proven experience as an outstanding teacher.
  • Significant leadership experience at Assistant Headteacher level or above.
  • Extensive experience in a pastoral role, including developing effective behaviour and safeguarding policies.
  • Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or willingness to train towards this role.
  • Strong data analysis skills to inform strategic decision-making and improve outcomes.
  • Alignment with the school’s values and commitment to student success.

Preferred

  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
  • Experience with safeguarding and behaviour improvement strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and best practice.
