The Opportunity:

As an SEN Teacher (Maternity Cover), you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, personalised education to students with diverse and complex needs. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people while working in a supportive and impactful environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons for individuals and small groups, following a structured curriculum framework.
  • Track, record, and report student progress, ensuring achievements are celebrated and progress is clearly documented.
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and structured learning environment that supports student growth and independence.
  • Coordinate teaching and assessment across key stages, working closely with the Headteacher.
  • Develop and implement personalised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies in collaboration with the team.
  • Support students with challenging behaviours, helping them develop self-regulation and independence.
  • Collaborate with care staff and other departments to ensure a joined-up approach to student support.
  • Safeguard students and promote their wellbeing, safety, and personal development at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Proactive and solution-focused approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-professional team
  • High expectations for yourself and your students

Preferred

  • Experience working with autistic students and those with complex needs
  • Experience in developing and implementing IEPs and behaviour plans
  • Experience in managing challenging behaviour
  • Experience in curriculum design or delivery for students with special educational needs
