The Opportunity:
As a Further Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, individualised education to students with special educational needs, SEMH, autism, and related challenges. You will support learners in achieving academic, social, and emotional growth in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess lessons tailored to the needs of learners with SEND and SEMH in line with the curriculum.
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans, and Personal Learning Goals.
- Use assessments and progress tracking to inform teaching and monitor learner outcomes.
- Promote positive behaviour and support wellbeing in collaboration with pastoral teams.
- Ensure safeguarding practices are followed and report concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of learner progress and contribute to quality improvement processes.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, data protection, and safeguarding policies.
- Collaborate with multi-professional teams, parents, and external agencies to support learners effectively.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, including working with learners with SEND and/or SEMH.
- Experience planning and delivering differentiated lessons and managing challenging behaviour.
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding requirements.
- Relevant teaching qualification (QTS or QTLS preferred) and degree in Education or related subject.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and willingness to undertake further training.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
Preferred
- Experience with behaviour management and pastoral support.
- Experience in working with young adults with complex needs.
- Experience with exam and assessment coordination.
- Driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
