The Opportunity:

As a SENDCO and College Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and guiding them through university and future pathways. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate provision for students with special educational needs.
  • Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans and support strategies.
  • Support teachers in delivering differentiated and inclusive classroom practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on SEN and inclusive education.
  • Advise students on university pathways, admissions requirements, and application processes.
  • Support students in preparing personal statements, essays, CVs, and interview preparation.
  • Collaborate with the IBDP Coordinator, Heads of Section, and teaching staff to ensure cohesive academic and pastoral provision.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive school culture and support student wellbeing.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate degree in Education, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent).
  • Proven experience as a SENCO, learning support specialist, or school counsellor.
  • Strong knowledge of inclusive education practices and student wellbeing.
  • Experience in university counselling or post-secondary guidance.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in English (C2 level).

Preferred

  • Additional qualification in SEN, Educational Psychology, Counselling, or Careers Guidance.
  • Experience in British and/or IB schools.
  • Familiarity with global university admissions systems (UCAS, CommonApp, Spanish university system, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Cambridge and IB assessment methods.
