The Opportunity:
As a Senior School SENCo, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with special educational needs receive the support they need to thrive. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners within a dynamic and supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee the provision of support for students with special educational needs in Years 9-13.
- Maintain and update the SEND register and access arrangements in line with external agencies and JCQ guidelines.
- Develop and implement intervention strategies in collaboration with Heads of Year and Heads of Department.
- Provide professional development and guidance to teaching staff on SEND-related matters.
- Build strong relationships with external specialists, therapists, and parents to support student needs.
- Monitor and review the progress of SEND students, ensuring their academic and wellbeing needs are met.
- Prepare and submit accurate documentation for JCQ inspections and external examinations.
- Communicate effectively with parents and attend parent evenings to discuss student needs and support plans.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A good honours degree from a British University
- A PGCE or equivalent qualified teacher status
- Experience teaching children at Secondary School level
- Strong knowledge of SEND and inclusive practice
- Experience delivering interventions and supporting classroom teachers
- Native level of spoken and written English
- Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
Preferred
- National Award for SEND Coordination (NASENCo) or equivalent
- Experience in a SENDCo or inclusion-focused leadership role
- Experience working with external therapists and authorities
- Ability to speak Spanish
- Experience in a UK based Private School or British International Overseas School
