The Opportunity:

As a Senior School SENCo, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with special educational needs receive the support they need to thrive. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners within a dynamic and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the provision of support for students with special educational needs in Years 9-13.
  • Maintain and update the SEND register and access arrangements in line with external agencies and JCQ guidelines.
  • Develop and implement intervention strategies in collaboration with Heads of Year and Heads of Department.
  • Provide professional development and guidance to teaching staff on SEND-related matters.
  • Build strong relationships with external specialists, therapists, and parents to support student needs.
  • Monitor and review the progress of SEND students, ensuring their academic and wellbeing needs are met.
  • Prepare and submit accurate documentation for JCQ inspections and external examinations.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and attend parent evenings to discuss student needs and support plans.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good honours degree from a British University
  • A PGCE or equivalent qualified teacher status
  • Experience teaching children at Secondary School level
  • Strong knowledge of SEND and inclusive practice
  • Experience delivering interventions and supporting classroom teachers
  • Native level of spoken and written English
  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • National Award for SEND Coordination (NASENCo) or equivalent
  • Experience in a SENDCo or inclusion-focused leadership role
  • Experience working with external therapists and authorities
  • Ability to speak Spanish
  • Experience in a UK based Private School or British International Overseas School
