The Opportunity:

As a Senior Hockey Coach (Fixed Term), you will lead and develop the hockey programme for pupils and staff, with a focus on elite performance and coeducation. This role is ideal for a coach who is passionate about hockey and committed to supporting the school's sporting and academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the hockey programme for male and female players across all age groups.
  • Support the Director of Hockey in planning and delivering high-quality coaching and development opportunities.
  • Deliver structured strength and conditioning sessions to enhance athletic performance.
  • Assist in the delivery of the school's broader sporting programme, including support for other sports when required.
  • Organise and run sports camps, courses, and pre-season training during school holidays.
  • Work closely with the Head of Athletic Development and Director of Sport to ensure a cohesive sporting strategy.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to younger coaches and players.
  • Represent the school at local, regional, and national hockey events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience coaching male and female players at all levels, with a focus on U18 development.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Experience in delivering elite hockey performance and competition at a national level.
  • Commitment to the school’s values of inclusivity, diversity, and student welfare.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

Preferred

  • Experience in coeducational settings or transitioning to coeducation.
  • Background in strength and conditioning or athletic development.
  • Experience with school sports programmes and working with students in a boarding environment.
  • Knowledge of hockey coaching methodologies and player development frameworks.
