Psychology and Sociology Teacher - Maternity Cover position available at a school in the North East.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Psychology and Sociology Teacher to provide maternity cover starting in Easter 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a thriving department and make a meaningful impact on students’ academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Psychology and Sociology across Key Stage 5.
  • Support students in achieving academic success and personal growth through engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies and resources.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to help students reach their full potential.
  • Contribute to the school’s mission by fostering a supportive, inclusive, and values-driven learning environment.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, staff development, and whole-school initiatives.
  • Engage in pastoral care and support for students, ensuring their wellbeing and success.
  • Maintain accurate records and report student progress to parents and guardians.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in Psychology and Sociology.
  • Experience teaching at Key Stage 5 level.
  • Commitment to the school’s mission and values, including a Catholic ethos and focus on pastoral care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take on additional responsibilities as required.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Catholic school or similar educational setting.
  • Experience with pastoral support and student wellbeing.
  • Familiarity with the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust and its values.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovative teaching methods.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary within the Main Pay Scale 1 - 6/Upper Pay Scale 1 - 3.
