The Opportunity:

As a Senior Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting science teaching and learning across all key stages. You will ensure that laboratories and preparation areas are safe, well-organised, and ready for use by students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day technical support for the Science department
  • Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment and materials for practical lessons
  • Ensure all practical work is carried out in line with health and safety regulations
  • Provide guidance and support to other technicians where applicable
  • Maintain laboratories and preparation areas to the highest standards
  • Collaborate with the Faculty Leader of Science and teaching staff to ensure smooth operations
  • Support the delivery of high-quality science education through efficient resource management
  • Stay up to date with scientific developments and ensure all equipment is maintained and used correctly

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong practical laboratory skills and sound scientific knowledge
  • Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations in a school laboratory setting
  • Highly organised, methodical, and able to prioritise workload effectively
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative while contributing positively to a team
  • Clear and professional communication skills with staff and students

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role
  • Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and management
  • Knowledge of current science curriculum and teaching practices
