The Opportunity:

As Head of Science, you will provide visionary leadership to a successful department, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will drive curriculum development, support colleagues, and deliver impactful lessons that help students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the Science department to deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement an innovative and engaging Science curriculum.
  • Monitor and improve student outcomes, ensuring consistent performance above national averages.
  • Support and mentor Science staff to enhance their professional development.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, respect, and collaboration within the department.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality lessons that prepare students for GCSE success.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align Science department goals with school-wide priorities.
  • Promote student engagement and a love of Science through extracurricular activities and initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Science teacher with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong track record in improving student outcomes and raising achievement.
  • Excellent knowledge of Science curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a department effectively.
  • Commitment to the school's core values of respect, excellence, and responsibility.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation in Science education.
  • Familiarity with Teaching English as a Second Language (if applicable).
  • Experience in leading a department with a history of high achievement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective leadership.
