The Opportunity:

As a Social Sciences Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education in Psychology and Sociology to students across Key Stages 4 and 5. You will be part of a dynamic and supportive department, contributing to the continued success of the school’s outstanding results in these subjects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Psychology and Sociology to students at Key Stages 4 and 5, following specified syllabi.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote outstanding progress for all pupils.
  • Support students in mixed ability groups and ensure inclusive, high-quality teaching.
  • Contribute to wider school responsibilities and extra-curricular activities.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching and learning through continuous professional development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning outcomes.
  • Stay up to date with curriculum changes and developments in the field of Social Sciences.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that reflects the values of the institution.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Successful experience of teaching Psychology and/or Sociology within a Secondary School at either Key Stage 4 or 5.
  • A record of good to outstanding teaching and of securing high levels of pupil progress.
  • Experience of or a commitment to wider school responsibilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • An appreciation and understanding of a school at the heart of the community.
  • A willingness to teach either Sociology or Psychology if required at any point.

Preferred

  • Successful experience of teaching Psychology and/or Sociology within a Secondary School at both Key Stage 4 and 5.
  • Experience with Edexcel, AQA, and Eduqas WJEC syllabi.
