The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator to join our team. This role is crucial in supporting students with barriers to learning and ensuring they achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing inclusive practices and driving academic success across the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to support students with special educational needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create individual learning plans.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support interventions and make recommendations for improvement.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on inclusive teaching practices.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices in special educational needs support.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that values all students.
- Work closely with senior leadership to shape the school’s SEND policy and procedures.
- Support the pastoral care system to ensure students receive the necessary emotional and academic support.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant experience in special educational needs.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a SEND team.
- Strong knowledge of statutory frameworks and legislation related to special educational needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in developing and implementing inclusive teaching strategies.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar role within a large academy or multi-academy trust.
- Familiarity with STEM subjects and their integration into special educational needs support.
- Experience in pastoral care and student support systems.
- Leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
