The Opportunity:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting students aged 2–18 with speech, language, and communication needs. You will work within a transdisciplinary team to deliver interventions that help students access the curriculum and reach their full potential in a supportive, inclusive school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct formal assessments and screeners to identify speech and language needs in students.
- Deliver individual and small-group therapy sessions focusing on speech, language, and social communication skills.
- Integrate communication strategies into classroom environments to support students with learning disabilities.
- Lead the implementation of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices and systems.
- Develop comprehensive reports, therapy plans, and data-driven recommendations for families and professionals.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to provide tools and strategies for student development.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of student progress and interventions.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of inclusive educational programs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years of clinical or school-based experience.
- Experience working with children aged 2–19 with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, Down’s Syndrome, and complex medical needs.
- Proficiency in current speech and language therapy methodologies and familiarity with AAC equipment and software.
- Strong classroom management and behavior support skills.
Preferred
- Experience working in a school-based setting with a transdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement specialized educational programs.
- Experience in creating modified learning environments that support diverse student needs.
- Strong communication skills with parents and professionals.
