The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to students with complex communication needs. This is a chance to work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team that values professional growth and innovation in practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Work collaboratively with education teams and other professionals to support students with developmental trauma, neurodivergence, or SEMH needs.
  • Maintain a speech and language therapy caseload, supported by a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Follow the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to ensure consistent, high-quality practice.
  • Develop and implement support plans based on pupil needs profiles.
  • Engage with families and carers to ensure a holistic approach to student care.
  • Stay up to date with legislation and best practice in clinical and professional management.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered.
  • Relevant experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Experience of communicating with families and carers.
  • Good relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Competence in core areas of speech and language therapy practice.
  • Understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of speech and language assessment tools and intervention types.
  • Awareness of legislation impacting clinical practice and professional management.

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
  • Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
