The Opportunity:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention within an education setting. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with complex needs, while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Work closely with education teams and other professionals to support pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergent needs, or SEMH challenges.
- Maintain a caseload of pupils, supported by a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
- Contribute to staff training and consultation as required, sharing your expertise within the team.
- Follow the Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working guidelines provided by the organisation.
- Ensure all practice aligns with the standards set by professional bodies and governing regulations.
- Communicate effectively with families, carers, and other stakeholders to support pupil progress.
- Participate in research projects, training, and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC registered.
- Experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles.
- Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
- Experience of communicating with families, carers, and other stakeholders.
- Strong relationship-building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and time management skills.
- Competence in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
- Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, types of intervention, and support plan formulation.
- Understanding of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
Preferred
- Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
- Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary up to £53,200 DOE.
- 4 days per week with full pay (subject to probation completion).
