The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention within an education setting. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with complex needs, while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Work closely with education teams and other professionals to support pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergent needs, or SEMH challenges.
  • Maintain a caseload of pupils, supported by a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required, sharing your expertise within the team.
  • Follow the Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working guidelines provided by the organisation.
  • Ensure all practice aligns with the standards set by professional bodies and governing regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with families, carers, and other stakeholders to support pupil progress.
  • Participate in research projects, training, and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered.
  • Experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Experience of communicating with families, carers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and time management skills.
  • Competence in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, types of intervention, and support plan formulation.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car.

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
  • Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
