The Opportunity:

As a Sports Pastoral Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting students through both academic and sporting life. This is a residential position with a focus on pastoral care, sports development, and community engagement. The role is ideal for someone passionate about sports and committed to student welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in the boarding houses and across the College, ensuring their well-being and engagement.
  • Assist with the delivery of a wide and varied sporting program for students of all abilities.
  • Work closely with the Games Department to promote sporting excellence and inclusion.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students, helping them develop both personally and academically.
  • Participate in and support events, fixtures, and activities that take place throughout the academic year.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Encourage and support students in achieving their sporting and personal goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A graduate with a particular interest in at least two major games.
  • Ability to work effectively with students of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of the school.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Experience in a pastoral or educational setting is advantageous.

Preferred

  • Experience in coaching or sports development.
  • Knowledge of Benedictine values and Catholic education principles.
  • Previous experience in a boarding school or similar environment.
  • Ability to assist with the running of sports fixtures and events.
  • Interest in gaining Level 3 or 5 coaching qualifications.
