The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Teacher of English KS3 and KS4 to join a forward-thinking department dedicated to delivering outstanding outcomes. This role offers a supportive induction programme and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student learning and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging, and inclusive lessons to students across KS3 and KS4.
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor and drive student progress.
  • Promote a love of reading, vocabulary development, and strong literacy skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve teaching and learning practices.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives and extracurricular activities such as debate clubs and creative writing groups.
  • Support students in achieving outstanding results in both GCSE Literature and Language.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of schemes of learning and shared assessments.
  • Maintain a calm, consistent, and purposeful classroom environment that supports high-quality teaching.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in teaching English at KS3 and KS4.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English literature and language.
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching and ensuring every student can achieve highly.
  • Experience in using assessment to drive progress and improve student outcomes.
  • Ability to deliver engaging and challenging lessons that promote reading and literacy.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities such as debate clubs or creative writing.
  • Experience with author partnerships or university collaborations.
  • Familiarity with the use of visualisers and other technology in the classroom.
