The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with autism and additional needs, helping them develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills. You will work closely with a dedicated team to deliver engaging lessons and create positive learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning and delivery of engaging lessons tailored to individual needs
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism and complex needs
- Prepare and maintain learning materials and resources
- Promote emotional, social, and physical wellbeing of pupils
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure a consistent approach
- Assist in creating stimulating, hands-on learning experiences
- Contribute to the development of individual education plans
- Support pupils in accessing work experience and other educational opportunities
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- Experience working with children with autism or additional needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of autism and special educational needs
- Experience with curriculum development or lesson planning
- Experience with Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, or outdoor activities education
