Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective Chemistry lessons to students across Years 7-8, ensuring a strong foundation in the subject.
  • Monitor and support student progress, providing targeted interventions where necessary.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and develop innovative teaching strategies.
  • Lead and support the Achievement Leader role, overseeing academic progress and behaviour for the year group.
  • Work closely with middle and senior leaders to enhance student achievement and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of the curriculum, ensuring alignment with school and national standards.
  • Provide pastoral support to students where appropriate, in line with the school’s commitment to student wellbeing.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Chemistry teaching at Key Stage 3.
  • Proven ability to lead and support a team of staff within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to student achievement and pastoral care.
  • Experience in developing and delivering high-quality lessons.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role within a school or educational setting.
  • Experience with external candidates and subject specialism in Chemistry.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in supporting student transition from Year 6 to Year 7.
