The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with autism and learning difficulties across all key stages. You will work closely with class teachers to assist with student learning, manage behavior, and build positive relationships with students. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support class teachers in delivering educational activities and managing student behavior
- Assist students with their learning and individual needs, providing one-on-one or small group support
- Foster positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and encouraging engagement with learning
- Communicate effectively with staff and parents to ensure consistent support for students
- Maintain a safe and structured environment that promotes student well-being and progress
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
- Collaborate with other staff members to create and implement individualized learning plans
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children with autism and learning difficulties
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Basic understanding of educational support and classroom management
Preferred
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
- Experience with behavior management strategies
- Knowledge of special educational needs and inclusive teaching practices
- Flexibility and adaptability to support students with varying needs
- Experience working in a residential or day school setting
