The Opportunity:
As an Employability Coach, you will play a vital role in helping young people with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) transition into meaningful employment. This role focuses on developing skills, promoting independence, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of interns as they gain valuable work experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support interns throughout their work experience placements, ensuring they gain relevant employment skills.
- Work closely with tutors and host businesses to create and maintain a structured internship experience.
- Help interns achieve their personal and professional aspirations while promoting decision-making and independence.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all interns during their time in the programme.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of interns to ensure they are prepared for long-term employment opportunities.
- Collaborate with external partners to provide a comprehensive and effective internship programme.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to interns to help them build confidence and career readiness.
- Maintain strong communication with all stakeholders, including families, employers, and support staff.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with young people, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, employers, and support staff.
- Understanding of Supported Internship programmes and their goals.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Preferred
- Experience in education or employment support roles.
- Knowledge of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP).
- Experience working in a college or educational setting.
- Familiarity with vocational training and apprenticeship schemes.
