The Opportunity:

Join a school's Special Educational Needs Department as a Teaching Assistant, supporting students with additional needs through 1:1 interventions, small group work, and classroom support. This role is ideal for recent graduates interested in a career in teaching and offers tailored support for progression into teacher training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs through 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Assist in the delivery of lessons and support classroom activities under the guidance of the SENDCO and SEND Lead Practitioner.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to the teaching team.
  • Participate in in-house training sessions and professional development activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to student learning.
  • Attend observational visits to other schools and engage in coaching and mentorship opportunities.
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the school’s SEND provision on a day-to-day basis.
  • Support the school’s commitment to inclusion and student well-being in all aspects of the role.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A graduate with a degree in any subject.
  • A commitment to working with students with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and support the school’s mission and values.
  • A willingness to participate in training and development opportunities.

Preferred

  • A graduate with a specialism in English, Maths, or Science.
  • Previous experience in education or working with children.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TEFL) or similar.
  • A proactive approach to professional development and career progression.
