The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Theater and English Teacher to join our team as a Theater Director and English Teacher with Housemaster/Housemistress/Boarding Supervisor responsibilities. This role combines teaching Advanced Placement curriculum courses with residential life duties, offering a unique opportunity to shape young minds and support student well-being in a beautiful, inspiring environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Advanced Placement English and Theater courses with a focus on creativity and critical thinking
  • Direct and produce theater productions that engage and inspire students
  • Supervise student boarding houses, ensuring a safe and supportive living environment
  • Support students’ personal development through mentorship and guidance outside of class hours
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to contribute to a vibrant, inclusive school community
  • Manage classroom and boarding house routines with strong organizational skills
  • Engage with students from diverse cultural backgrounds in a respectful and empathetic manner
  • Participate in the school’s academic and extracurricular programs, including arts and outdoor activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Theater Arts, English Literature, or a related field
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to teach Advanced Placement level content effectively
  • Willingness to take on residential supervision duties, including evening and weekend shifts
  • Strong organizational skills for managing classroom and boarding house responsibilities

Preferred

  • Additional language skills
  • Experience in theater production or direction
  • Experience working with adolescents in a boarding school or residential setting
  • Background in holistic education and student development
