The Opportunity:

As a Work Experience Officer (SEND), you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities by establishing and maintaining strong employer relationships. You will be responsible for creating meaningful work experience and industry placement opportunities that help students develop essential skills and prepare for their future careers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local employers and businesses.
  • Coordinate and manage work experience and industry placement opportunities for students.
  • Support students with special educational needs and disabilities in accessing and preparing for work placements.
  • Liaise with teaching staff, employers, and external partners to ensure placements meet educational and career development goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of work experience programs on student outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and support to students throughout the work experience process.
  • Ensure all placements comply with health and safety standards and legal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on all work experience activities and student progress.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in managing work experience or placement programs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Understanding of SEND education and support frameworks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in further education or a related sector.
  • Knowledge of local industry and employer networks.
  • Experience in coordinating large-scale work experience programs.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and educational inspection requirements.
