The Opportunity:
As Assistant Headteacher Inclusion, you will provide strategic leadership to ensure that all students, especially those with SEND and those eligible for pupil premium, are fully supported to achieve their potential. This is a key leadership role with a strong focus on inclusion and student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and implement a whole-school inclusion strategy aligned with national developments in SEND and inclusion
- Be accountable for the academic and personal outcomes of SEND and disadvantaged pupils
- Line manage the SENDCo and wider inclusion team, ensuring high-quality provision and support
- Oversee and drive the school’s pupil premium strategy with measurable and sustained impact
- Deliver staff training to embed inclusive, adaptive teaching across the school
- Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and curriculum leaders to support vulnerable pupils
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in leading inclusion and/or SEND provision in a secondary setting
- Strong understanding of statutory frameworks, including the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding responsibilities
- Experience of successfully leading and developing a team
- Experience of working with external agencies and leading multi-agency support for vulnerable pupils
- Qualified Teacher Status and a degree in a relevant subject
Preferred
- Experience in leadership development and coaching
- Evidence of strong student progress and outcomes
- Experience with adaptive teaching and supporting vulnerable learners
- Strong understanding of curriculum, assessment, and the use of data to drive improvement
