The Opportunity:
As a Science Technician, you will support teachers and students by preparing laboratory equipment, maintaining a safe and stimulating learning environment, and contributing to high-quality science education. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and materials for practical experiments
- Ensure a safe and well-organised learning environment in science laboratories
- Assist teachers with the setup and breakdown of experiments and demonstrations
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and inventory
- Support the implementation of health and safety protocols
- Collaborate with staff to enhance the science curriculum and student engagement
- Provide technical support during science lessons and extracurricular activities
- Stay up to date with scientific developments and best practices in education
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working in a laboratory environment or willingness to be trained
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Keen interest in science and education
Preferred
- Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role
- Knowledge of current science curriculum and teaching standards
- Experience with laboratory equipment and technology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with teaching or supporting students in a school setting
