The Opportunity:

We are seeking a committed and dynamic Academic Support Teacher to deliver high-quality English and Maths instruction to Key Stage 1 and 2 students. This role offers flexibility and the potential to expand within the school. As a peripatetic teacher, you will work closely with students and colleagues to support learning and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach 1:1 and in small groups, focusing on multi-sensory, achievable learning tasks.
  • Liaise with class teachers and other professionals to support student progress.
  • Write IEPs and set clear, individualised learning targets.
  • Assess and identify pupils with disabilities or learning difficulties.
  • Deliver structured, engaging lessons that promote over-learning and confidence.
  • Monitor and intervene to ensure effective learning and discipline.
  • Assess and record student progress systematically, updating records and setting targets.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant teaching qualification and experience in academic support.
  • Ability to deliver 1:1 and small group teaching in Key Stage 1 and 2.
  • Strong understanding of English and Maths curricula for KS1 and KS2.
  • Experience in writing and reviewing IEPs and learning targets.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs.
  • Familiarity with multi-sensory teaching techniques.
  • Experience in assessing and monitoring student progress.
  • Flexibility to work term time only and on a peripatetic basis.
