The Opportunity:

As a Senior SENDCO and Academic Support Lead, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs in the Middle and Senior School. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student progress, while working in a progressive and supportive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the implementation of Access Arrangements for students in the Middle and Senior School.
  • Support staff in understanding and addressing the needs of students with special educational needs.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on how to support individual students with SEN.
  • Monitor and intervene to ensure effective learning and discipline for students with SEN.
  • Assist parents in understanding their child's needs and provide support for diagnosis and intervention.
  • Manage the SEN budget effectively for the Middle and Senior School.
  • Collaborate with the Admission’s team to assess the suitability of students for the school.
  • Oversee the teaching of Academic Support teachers to ensure students achieve academic progress through structured and multi-sensory learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
  • National Professional Qualification for Special Educational Needs (NPQ SENCO).
  • Significant experience working with students with SEN in an educational setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing academic support teams and delivering training to staff.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in SEN provision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
