The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. This is a key position within a school that is dedicated to fostering growth, innovation, and a positive learning environment for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Class Teacher in managing pupils and preparing the classroom environment.
  • Assist with the delivery of individualised learning plans and provide tailored support to students.
  • Implement and monitor behaviour management strategies for pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Prepare and set out resources in line with lesson plans and curriculum requirements.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to student care.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom culture through active participation in team meetings and planning.
  • Support pupils during transitions and provide assistance with personal care where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience of supporting children and young people with special educational needs.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of SEND pedagogy and individualised learning strategies.
  • Experience with behaviour management plans.
  • Familiarity with the Education and Health Care Plan process.
