The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities, helping them reach their full potential. This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher in managing pupils and preparing the classroom environment.
- Assist with individual and group learning, adapting strategies to meet the specific needs of each student.
- Implement behaviour management plans for pupils with challenging behaviours.
- Provide 1-2-1 support to students where required, using knowledge of special educational needs.
- Work collaboratively with other staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of bespoke learning programmes tailored to individual needs.
- Maintain a safe and stimulating environment that encourages positive engagement and learning.
- Support pupils in developing regulation, communication, and social skills.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred
- Experience in a special school or similar setting.
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies for pupils with complex needs.
- Experience working with students with autism or learning difficulties.
- Familiarity with the SEND Code of Practice and related policies.
- Previous experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
