The Opportunity:
As an Academic Support Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable and underachieving students, helping them reach their full potential. You will deliver targeted interventions, monitor progress, and ensure that all students receive the individual support they need to succeed in their learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement targeted support strategies for vulnerable and SEND students.
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to improve student engagement and academic outcomes.
- Monitor and track student progress, regularly updating learning plans and pupil passports.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure consistent support and alignment with curriculum goals.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, including learning plans and progress reports.
- Support students in literacy-heavy subjects and ensure they have access to the full curriculum.
- Promote a positive learning environment and encourage student motivation and confidence.
- Work closely with other support staff and senior leadership to improve student outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience working with vulnerable or SEND students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deliver effective 1:1 and small group interventions.
- Experience in tracking student progress and maintaining detailed records.
- Commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.
- Relevant qualifications in education or a related field.
Preferred
- Experience in literacy support or teaching literacy-heavy subjects.
- Familiarity with special educational needs and disability (SEND) frameworks.
- Experience with curriculum planning and delivery.
- Previous experience in a school setting with a strong focus on student support.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
