The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join our Science Department and support practical learning in a stimulating educational environment. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of science lessons and experiments, contributing directly to student engagement and achievement in science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage laboratory equipment and materials for science lessons
- Maintain and repair scientific apparatus and laboratory facilities
- Assist teachers and students in the safe and effective use of scientific equipment
- Support the Senior Science Technician in managing the Science Department
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all science-related activities
- Contribute to the organisation of science events and extracurricular activities
- Keep accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance
- Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance practical learning experiences
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience in a science laboratory or technical support role
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures in a school setting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational environment
- Knowledge of science curriculum and practical teaching methods
- Experience with laboratory equipment and maintenance
- Familiarity with using IT systems for record-keeping and inventory management
