The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join our Science Department and support practical learning in a stimulating educational environment. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of science lessons and experiments, contributing directly to student engagement and achievement in science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage laboratory equipment and materials for science lessons
  • Maintain and repair scientific apparatus and laboratory facilities
  • Assist teachers and students in the safe and effective use of scientific equipment
  • Support the Senior Science Technician in managing the Science Department
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all science-related activities
  • Contribute to the organisation of science events and extracurricular activities
  • Keep accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance practical learning experiences

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a science laboratory or technical support role
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures in a school setting
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational environment
  • Knowledge of science curriculum and practical teaching methods
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and maintenance
  • Familiarity with using IT systems for record-keeping and inventory management
