The Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated Science Technician to support the science faculty in delivering high-quality practical learning experiences. This role is essential to maintaining the school’s outstanding science curriculum and providing students with engaging and safe laboratory environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and materials in line with the science curriculum.
  • Ensure appropriate stock levels of apparatus, chemicals, and materials are maintained and replenished as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety standards in science laboratories and classrooms.
  • Assist with the planning and evaluation of practical science activities.
  • Support science departments in the management of technical resources and equipment.
  • Collaborate with science staff to ensure all practical work meets curriculum and safety requirements.
  • Manage inventory and report any issues or shortages promptly.
  • Participate in additional responsibilities, such as supporting extracurricular science activities or projects when required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Grade C or above in science or relevant technician experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and safety protocols.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience with handling laboratory equipment and chemicals.
  • Interest in science and a passion for supporting practical learning.
  • Flexibility to work outside of term time as required.
