The Opportunity:

As an Advanced Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting student achievement through targeted interventions and high-quality learning activities. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student progress, particularly for those with special educational needs, English as an additional language, and gifted and talented students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planned learning activities and intervention programmes to small groups or individuals in various environments.
  • Assess, monitor, and record student development and attainment using appropriate ICT systems.
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN) and those for whom English is not their first language.
  • Provide short-term cover for learning environments and support the implementation of individual development plans.
  • Manage resources and invigilate exams as required.
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of the school and students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Hold a Level 3 qualification relating to working with children and young people.
  • Have experience working in a school setting or with children/young people.
  • Previous experience supporting students in small group or one-to-one situations.
  • Skilled in delivering interventions and proficient in educational ICT packages such as SIMS, o'Cloud, and Praising Stars.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to relate empathetically to students.
  • Ability to identify and report potential safeguarding concerns.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TEFL/TESOL).
  • Experience with implementing individual development plans, including EHCPs.
  • Experience with online learning platforms and digital tools.
  • Background in special educational needs support.
