The Opportunity:

A Teaching Assistant is needed to provide high-quality care and support to children aged 7 and above. This role plays a vital part in creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that promotes the academic and personal development of every child.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with medical and/or special educational needs, providing tailored pastoral care.
  • Deliver a safe and stimulating learning programme that meets the individual needs of children.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of educational activities for children with SEND and EAL needs.
  • Assess children’s progress, maintain accurate records, and provide written reports to parents.
  • Use technology to support lesson planning, teaching, and reporting.
  • Organise and manage group and individual sessions, ensuring appropriate resources are available.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the efficient and safe supervision of children.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and contribute to decision-making processes.
  • Supervise children during the school day, including in the playground and dinner hall on a rota basis.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children aged 7 and above.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of child development and learning processes.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection, including willingness to undergo relevant checks.

Preferred

  • Experience in supporting children with special educational needs or EAL.
  • Familiarity with IT tools used in education.
  • Experience in delivering or assisting with curriculum-based activities.
  • Background in early years or primary education.
