The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic Science Teacher with Middle Leadership experience to inspire students and lead by example in delivering an engaging, hands-on Science curriculum. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape learning and contribute to the school’s educational vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement and assess a comprehensive Science curriculum, incorporating practical learning experiences.
  • Lead and support staff in Science teaching, ensuring high standards of knowledge and delivery.
  • Coordinate Science-related events, workshops and links across the curriculum, including STEM and British Science Week.
  • Maintain and update subject audits and development plans to ensure continuous improvement in Science delivery.
  • Liaise with parents and attend events to communicate pupil progress and curriculum topics.
  • Deliver sensitive topics such as sex and relationship education in line with school policy.
  • Promote Science and STEM through school publications, social media and community engagement.
  • Support the delivery of training and inset sessions on Science-related initiatives and legislation.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to integrate Science into wider school activities and themes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teaching Status and a University degree.
  • Proven teaching experience with a mixed ability co-educational class.
  • Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum and child development.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students and staff.
  • Experience in managing pupil progress and tracking academic achievement.
  • Competent IT skills for teaching and administrative tasks.
  • Willingness to complete safeguarding and first aid training.

Preferred

  • Experience in middle leadership or subject leadership roles.
  • Familiarity with STEM initiatives and community engagement.
  • Experience in delivering sex and relationship education.
  • Background in professional development and staff training.
