The Opportunity:

The Artist in Residence plays a vital role in delivering high-quality art education and supporting the school’s extra-curricular programme. This position offers the chance to inspire students, lead creative activities, and contribute to a vibrant and inclusive learning community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging art activities and support students in their learning across all key stages.
  • Prepare and maintain art rooms, materials, and teaching resources for lessons and projects.
  • Assist with the organisation and administration of Art Department school trips.
  • Support other departments as requested by the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Run co-curricular art clubs and contribute to the school’s enrichment programme.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment in the art rooms and boarding house.
  • Undertake training and follow health and safety protocols, including COSHH regulations.
  • Assist with house duties, including supervision of meals, assemblies, and weekend activities.
  • Support the welfare and progress of students in the boarding house and contribute to house events and competitions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a range of age groups.
  • Experience delivering art activities to children.
  • Commitment to professional development in the field of Art.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Conscientious, reliable, and enthusiastic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible attitude to work, including evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and protection of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of art materials and techniques.
  • Experience with curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Ability to manage and lead a range of creative activities.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary of £13,751 per academic year.
