The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who require 1:1 assistance, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential. This is an impactful position that makes a real difference in the lives of young people, working closely with families, carers, and professionals to provide holistic support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of pupils
  • Support day-to-day organisation and administration within the school
  • Work in line with professional standards, statutory requirements, and school policies
  • Contribute positively to the school’s improvement journey
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required
  • Provide personalised support to pupils with social, emotional, and learning challenges
  • Collaborate with professionals such as Social Workers, Speech and Language Therapists, and Educational Psychologists
  • Support pupils with speech and sound disorders, expressive language difficulties, and delayed understanding of language

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience working in a SEND school or specialist setting
  • Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Calm, consistent, and nurturing approach
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Genuine commitment to helping pupils overcome barriers and succeed

Preferred

  • Experience with speech and language support
  • Experience working with pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour
  • Knowledge of therapeutic and inclusive teaching approaches
  • Experience in supporting pupils with autism and associated learning differences
