Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality, individualized teaching plans tailored to the needs of students with autism.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and parents to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Implement strategies that promote positive behaviour and social skills development.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of extra-curricular activities that support student engagement and learning.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress.
  • Work closely with the pastoral team to ensure the holistic development of students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in working with students with autism spectrum disorder.
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies for students with autism.
  • Experience with assistive technology and communication tools used in special needs education.
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum and its application in special needs settings.
