Summary:

Assistant Director of Music opportunity available from September 2026.

The Opportunity:

As Assistant Director of Music, you will help shape a dynamic and inclusive music curriculum, supporting students in discovering their musical potential. This role offers the chance to lead ensembles, contribute to a thriving co-curricular programme, and work within a collaborative and forward-thinking department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the strategic and day-to-day leadership of the Music Department.
  • Teach Music across Key Stages 3, GCSE, and A Level.
  • Lead ensembles and contribute to the co-curricular programme.
  • Deliver high-quality, inclusive, and innovative music education.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Music to develop a forward-thinking curriculum.
  • Inspire students through performance and teaching excellence.
  • Foster a culture of high aspiration and musical curiosity.
  • Support the development of young instrumentalists and ensembles.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience teaching Music across Key Stages 3, GCSE, and A Level.
  • Strong performance skills on one or more instruments.
  • Commitment to inclusive and innovative teaching practices.
  • Experience in developing young instrumentalists and ensembles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Preferred

  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
  • Leadership experience in a music department or similar setting.
  • Experience with co-curricular music activities and events.
