The Opportunity:

As Assistant Head of Primary – Infant Lead, you will provide strategic leadership across Nursery to Year 2, ensuring a culture of excellence and strong outcomes for all children. This role combines leadership with a teaching commitment, allowing you to remain connected to classroom practice and student experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight across Nursery to Year 2, ensuring a clear vision and consistent expectations.
  • Lead and model high-quality teaching and learning, monitoring standards and supporting staff through coaching and feedback.
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop a progressive, engaging curriculum that aligns with early learning and child development.
  • Oversee assessment systems and use data to identify strengths, address gaps, and support student progress.
  • Support staff through professional development, instructional coaching, and fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive environment that supports student wellbeing and positive behaviour.
  • Contribute to the wider Primary Leadership Team while maintaining a strong connection to classroom practice through teaching.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience within EYFS / KS1
  • Outstanding classroom practice and deep understanding of early learning and child development
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and data analysis
  • Ability to lead with clarity, empathy, and high expectations
  • Commitment to pupil wellbeing and achievement

Preferred

  • Experience in driving school improvement and staff development
  • Familiarity with international education standards and best practices
  • Experience in leading curriculum innovation and development
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
