The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Head of Science, you will play a pivotal role in leading the Science department towards outstanding outcomes. This is a leadership position that demands passion, assertiveness, and a commitment to raising standards in teaching and learning. You will inspire students and support staff to achieve exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the delivery of the Science curriculum across all key stages.
  • Mentor and support Science staff to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Work closely with the Head of Science to maintain and improve departmental standards.
  • Promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the Science faculty.
  • Engage with students to foster a love for Science and encourage exceptional progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching strategies and resources.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance to ensure all pupils achieve their full potential.
  • Represent the Science department at school-level meetings and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Science teacher with a strong track record in Science education.
  • Proven leadership experience within a school or educational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Familiarity with the Co-op Academies Trust and its values.
  • Experience in driving up standards and improving outcomes in Science education.
