The Opportunity:
As a Teacher of English / Nurture, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role focuses on nurturing relationships, building confidence, and delivering engaging English lessons tailored to meet individual needs in a specialist setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, creative English lessons tailored to meet the needs of students with SEMH challenges
- Support students in developing literacy skills, confidence, and a love of learning
- Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to create and deliver attendance support and engagement groups
- Implement trauma-informed practices and relationship-driven approaches to behaviour regulation
- Adapt the secondary curriculum to ensure inclusivity and engagement
- Contribute to the development of restorative and empathetic school culture
- Monitor and support student progress, both academically and emotionally
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages personal and academic growth
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in a specialist SEMH setting
- In-depth knowledge of the secondary English curriculum and its adaptation for diverse needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in trauma-informed practice and relationship-driven teaching
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
- High levels of motivation, resilience, and enthusiasm
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
Preferred
- Experience in developing and leading attendance support and engagement groups
- Background in inclusion and engagement strategies
- Experience with restorative approaches and emotional well-being support
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and shape teaching practice
